Every IR value keeps a vector of the instructions that read it, and each one grows by reallocating on the heap. A program's values all die with the program, so their use lists are now drawn from a bump arena the program owns: growth is a pointer bump and freeing is dropped. Values built outside a program keep the heap allocator, and copies of a use list go back to the heap. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <[email protected]>
